Simulation

Subject to the simulation are final pleadings of historic cases that were heard before the international tribunals, namely the Nuremberg Tribunal, the ICTY and the ICTR.

During the project the students explore their roles as prosecutors, members of the defence, judges or members of the observing media in tri-national teams.

When being admitted to the program, participants will be put in teams of three with students from other countries. Together they will prepare their pleadings and strategy via email and online-forum already before coming to Krzyżowa.

Trainings

The simulation is imbedded into a series of workshops and trainings. During their stay in Krzyżowa, the students will participate in workshops on human rights, the resistance movement against the Nazi regime and the historic background of the cases. Furthermore, there will be training to prepare for the simulation. In their teams, the participants will experience legal and rhetoric training to learn about their roles and learn how to adequately argue and debate their roles and cases.

The working language of the project is English.

Teachers' Training

While the students work, teachers are also welcome to do so. We believe that human rights education is fundamental to the political education in Europe. However, it is not widely spread among European curricula. MICC therefore invites the accompanying teachers to take part in a teachers’ workshop to explore possibilities of implementing human rights education in schools.
